Fire Hydrants: A Source of Water, Art and Tribute to the City of Chicago

There will be no shortage of oversized fire hydrants dotting the city of Chicago next month – and for good reason!

Culligan is pleased to be a sponsor of a new public art exhibition, the Great Chicago Fire Hydrants (presented by Wintrust), which is set to celebrate the heroism of Chicago’s firefighters. Beautifully decorated fiberglass fire hydrant replicas will stand in tribute to Chicago’s finest throughout the city beginning Sept. 11. The 5-foot tall sculptures will decorate the city until Nov. 11. There will be 101 hydrants, to be exact; one to symbolically represent each Chicago firehouse.

Private businesses, parks, plazas, and tourism destinations will be home to the pieces of art during the public exhibition, and artists of all ages and abilities are set to decorate the hydrants. Once the exhibition ends, the hydrants will be auctioned to benefit the 100 Club of Chicago, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the families of fallen police and firefighters.

At Culligan, we couldn’t be more proud to be a sponsor of one of the fire hydrants. It’s a beautiful tribute to the heroes of Chicago. It feels fitting that the fire hydrant is a source of water!

The big reveal will take place Sept. 11, and we can’t wait to see how our hydrant looks! You can be certain we’ll keep you posted.

The Great Chicago Fire Hydrants campaign was created in partnership between Agency 360, LLC and Innovation Ovation, Inc. to raise awareness and funds for fire-related charities and to showcase public arts.
