Consumer Alert: Aggressive Water Filtration Salesmen
With recent water alerts and announcements in both the U.S. and Canada, there has been a rise in people posing as local water authority employees attempting to sell water filtration systems door to door. It’s unfortunate that under these circumstances, reports of residents complaining of salesmen using aggressive tactics are on the rise. But what’s just as important is separating fact from fiction to ensure your home receives clean water while avoiding these situations.
Typically, when there’s something wrong with your drinking water, you would reach out to your local water utility to report or fix the situation, or you would find a company that provides water treatment solutions, like filtration and softening. It’s rare — likely unheard of — that a representative would visit your home for any reason unannounced, especially to sell you something.
If you find yourself answering the door to a potentially aggressive salesman posing as a water filtration representative, just shut the door. If they make you really uncomfortable, call police.
Culligan Does Not Use Aggressive Door-to-Door Sales Tactics Your local Culligan Water Consultant will always introduce himself or herself when coming to your door, and you will easily be able to identify them by a Culligan shirt or truck. Also, a Culligan Water Consultant will never enter your house under false pretenses, and they will always clearly and honestly answer questions about the services they are offering, whether it's a water test, installation, water delivery, or other service.
If someone is telling you to purchase water treatment while posing as a local water authority representative or service provider, contact your local Culligan Man or municipal water provider to verify first.
